The Road Not Taken and the Journey of Life :: Road Not Taken essays
The Road Not Taken and the Journey of Life This poem by Robert Frost was first read to me in the last year of my high school experience. Back then, not only did I have absolutely no interest in any literary work, but moreover, had no intension to lye there and analyze a poem into its symbolic definitions. Only now have I been taught the proper way to read a literary work as a formalistic critic might read. With this new approach to literature I can understand the underlying meaning to Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken". In addition to merely grasping the author's intension, I was able to justly incur that this poem, without directly mentioning anything about life's decisions, is in its entirety about just that. Robert Frost interpreted most of the decisions we make in life into this twenty-line poem of a man choosing which path to take in a "yellow wood". Everyday I make a decision to do a certain task, take that certain walk, or to sit at home and do absolutely nothing. Being one person, I can never know for sure what the exact outcome might be if I were to choose the other decision. For instance, I take a leisurely walk every night and I sacrifice my time to do something else. Although this may not always account to me personally, I do sometimes think what the other choice may have brought me. And often times, I complete the task with a sense of relief, a "sigh" perhaps, that the choice I made turned to be a well-made decision. Though most people rarely look into the sacrifice of decision making the way Robert Frost does, it is indeed a highly examined way too understand "a path less traveled by". The first stanza introduced the reader to the decision the author would have to make. "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood" to me signified that the result of his decision would arise from the same origin to which in my own life, I can reflect on. And though he would like to have seen the outcome of both paths, he knew he could only choose one. And to help him decide, he would look down both choices and see only until the road took a bend.

Almost all these type of models are classic star schemas, as shown in Figure 3. The complete information of a process is its central fact table. Its like a first normal form or ââ¬ËDe-normalized' dimension tables, which surrounds the fact table. Then there are details or dimension tables which can be joined with integer keys called ââ¬Ësurrogate keys'. This is shown in the below figure. Some researchers call for the normalized, third normal form model at lowest level in data warehouse as this provides Max flexibility. The dimension or detail table bear an analogy to this as will be shown in the subsequent analysis in the later sections. (MS. As per the model, the ââ¬Å"dimensions are the objects that participate in an organization's business processes. We generally model these as one table per object. Building the dimension in the TTL system involves joining the various normalized description and hierarchy tables that populate the dimension attributes and writing the results into a single table. (Thorniest, W, 201 1) RED Diagram to provide a complete overview of the Online Bookstore.Data warehouse requires designing Fact tables and dimension tables. As provided earlier the fact table is the central table within star schema of a data warehouse. A fact table contains basic, raw and De-normalized data. For the Jar Bookstore there are three types of facts: (Thorniest, W, 2011) 1. Additive: these are summed up data 2. Semi-Additive: Semi-additive facts that can be summed up for some data only 3. Non-Additive: Non -additive facts are facts that cannot be summed up. In the context of Jar Bookstore we illustrate each these three types of facts. The first example assumes that we are a retailer, and we have a fact table with the follows Eng columns: Date Store Sales Amount This table records the sales amount for each product in each store on a daily basis. This data is extracted in the excel sheet as well and will be analyzed in the later sections. The Jar Bookstore has the following fact table: Date Books Current Balance Profit_Margin The object of this table is to record the current balance for each account at the end of each day (DOD Balance).

The best teaching aid is a piece of chalk - 1458 Words
ââ¬Å"The best teaching aid is a piece of chalkâ⬠When I first went to school, the dominant teaching aid was blackboard and chalk. That is almost half a century ago. Back then, the statement ââ¬Å"The best teaching aid is a piece of chalkâ⬠is likely to cause bafflement to teachers. ââ¬Å"What else?â⬠would be their common response. Today, however, teaching aids abound. From a simple letter set painstakingly cut out by a devoted teacher, through electronic projection equipment, DVD sound systems, televisions and computers, to the latest interactive whiteboard, they introduce a wealth of variety and differing impact to todayââ¬â¢s classroom. Any discussion of this statement will therefore be remiss if I do not introduce and examine some available alternativesâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦3. Supplementing/substituting the blackboard Primarily visual aids, these include the overhead projector (OHP), slide projector (almost going the way of the Dodo), and the latest computer projection equipment. A quick check on the internet shows that these can cost anywhere between USD100 and USD2000, not including the screen. Exorbitant cost aside, the OHP and computer projection equipment can, technically, replace the blackboard. OHP sheets can be prepared in advance or blank, to be written on during the lesson. This is the closest to the blackboard. The advantage is that the teacher is facing the class when doing so and is thus better placed to gauge the classââ¬â¢ attention level and behavior. The disadvantages are that it requires a power cord, generates a fair amount of heat, and often requires some training to use effectively and efficiently. It can also breakdown. The computer projection system requires that all materials be prepared in advance prior the lesson. These can then be presented a bit at a time in accordance to the pace of the lesson. The clearest advantage is that the projected material is type-written and can be set at a font size most suitable for the classroom in use. It can also be used to do slide presentation using Power Point or similar software. A further advantage is that material on the internet can be easily downloaded and adapted for classroom use. However, unpredicted changes inShow MoreRelatedHow Visual Aids Can Help When Teaching a Foreign Language.1381 Words à |à 6 PagesHow visual aids can help when teaching a foreign language. 1 Visual aids provide a practical solution for teachers whose equipment can consist of nothing more than a few books and a classroom. The Sexual Revolution Of The 20th Century - 1712 Words
When people learn that I practice and preach about chastity, many are taken back. Itââ¬â¢s not often that you find a young, teenage girl unashamed in her choice to remain pure. Iââ¬â¢ve accepted that if Iââ¬â¢m going to live a pure lifestyle, I canââ¬â¢t expect the world to understand my decision. And I blame it all on the sexual revolution. Up to that point in the twentieth century, people were living in a prudish, unhealthy culture that twisted our human sexuality into something that was looked down upon, as something to be ashamed of. Repressing oneââ¬â¢s sexual desires simply does not work; thatââ¬â¢s not how we were built. (Remember that whole made from love, created for love thing?) The sexual revolution took the world by storm because they had beenâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦That is impossible in an environment that upholds works like Eve Ensler s The Vagina Monologues, inviting people to reduce their self-image to their anatomy. Likewise, there is no dignity in a society that encourages touching another person s body but not allowing that person to touch your heart. Chastity is not about locking ourselves up in a tower and wearing a steel belt all our days; itââ¬â¢s being freed from selfishness and the standards of our culture and growing in our capacity to love authentically. Chastity and abstinence are frequently confused with each other. Abstinence is merely abstaining from all sexual encounters. Abstinence focuses on what you canââ¬â¢t do and what you canââ¬â¢t have. That statement contradicts chastity. Chastity focuses and what can have and do have right now; a lifestyle that brings freedom, respect, peace, joy, romance- without regret. Because chastity involved purity in many cases, some people think in means reverting to that puritan movement of sexual repression. ON the contrary, it frees lovers up from that selfish attitude of using each other, making them capable of true love. In fact, the Catholic Catechism states ââ¬Å"All Christââ¬â¢s faithful are called to live a chaste life in keeping with their particular states of life.â⬠By ââ¬Å"states of lifeâ⬠, the Church means that there is married chastity and unmarried chastity. What? How does that work? Chastity is a virtue,

Coming Of Age A Comparative Analysis Of `` Where Are You...
Coming of Age in Fiction: A comparative Analysis of ââ¬Å"Where Are You Going, Where Have You been?â⬠and ââ¬Å"An Ounce of Cureâ⬠. ââ¬Å"Where Are You Going, Where Have You been?â⬠by Joyce Carol Oates and ââ¬Å"An Ounce of Cureâ⬠by Alice Munro share the common theme of ââ¬Å"Coming of Ageâ⬠, which depicts a maturation of the character/s going from a child to an adult. In both short stories, the female protagonist has a defining experience that changes the way they view the world or themselves. While both of these stories share the common theme of coming of age, both of them explore this theme in very different ways. Coming of age as a story theme illustrates a characterââ¬â¢s growth and maturity as they transition from child to adult by way of either a single event, or a series of events. Coming of age is a popular theme in young adult and adult fiction alike, capitalizing on the fact that almost everyone remembers their youth and looks back on those years with strong emotions, either positive or negative (40-43, Benedetti). Connie in ââ¬Å"Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?â⬠is a fifteen year old girl with a rebellious streak. She is insecure, as is common at that age, but it is made worse by being compared to her elder sister during the story: ââ¬Å"Why donââ¬â¢t you keep your room clean like your sister? . . . Theory Practice Change Management Palgrave ââ¬Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss About The Theory Practice Change Management Palgrave? Answer: Introduction In the present business scenario, organizations are operating in intensely competitive state of affairs. In addition, the external environment of their operation is rapidly changing. Thus, it is of the urgent requirement for the organization to initiate effective change management in their internal management to cope up with the change in external environment (Hayes, 2014). Fahad medical city is one of the prominent medical institutions in Saudi Arabia. This essay will discuss about the organizational change being implemented by them with relation to the basic components of change management. Change management by Fahad medical city Some of the key components for implementing change management are determination of compellability of the organizational structure for change, communication structure, employee training, manager training, resistance management, collection of stakeholder information, feedback analysis and recognizing the achievement (Cameron Green, 2015). In the recent years, Fahad medical city had gone through a prominent change. They have implemented cloud based ERP systems in their internal organization. In the initial stage of their operation, they have managed their internal management such as appointment of the doctors, patient service and other employee management facilities. However, with the change in time, the operation of them gets extended and they have felt the pressure of initiating ERP system in reducing the management cost and time. The implementation of the ERP system helped in reducing the time in service delivery and enhancing the efficiency. However, they have not followed all the components of change management in implementing the organizational change. According to the Lewins change management model, they have initiated the first step of unfreezing (Shirey, 2013). In this step, organization should effectively communicate with the employees about the change to be implemented and determining the readiness of the organizational structure. They have done it effectively but missed out in effective management of resistance. The resisting force is very common in implementation of change but they have omitted the resistance management and thus it caused issues in their change management. The next step is the initiation of the change (Shirey, 2013). Fahad medical city had initiated the change effectively, however, the employees are not being trained properly to adhere with the new ERP system (Ji et al., 2012). Thus, though the system was implemented but the effectiveness was below par. In the later stage, employees are being given proper training and the issue was being overcome. The last step in this model is refreezing (Shirey, 2013). They have initiated this step in order to get back the organizational structure and culture to the previous position. They have effectively collected the data regarding the feedback from the employees and modified accordingly. However, they have omitted the recognition process of success and achievement of the employees in implementing the change management. Thus, they faced the issue of low morale of the employees. Conclusion Thus, it can be concluded that, implementation of effective change management requires complying with all the key components of the change management. Fahad medical city had omitted some of the components and faced various issues in their internal management. This report has used the Lewins model of change to determine the effectiveness of the change initiated in Fahad medical city. Reference Cameron, E., Green, M. Reading Response to Our Barbies, Ourselves by Emily Prager Essay Example
Reading Response to Our Barbies, Ourselves by Emily Prager Paper This article takes a critical look at one of the most recognizable cultural icons in American history ââ¬â the Barbie doll. While admitting to the popularity and appeal of the Barbie doll across generations, Emily Prager finds certain faults with what it symbolizes. The fact that the doll was first conceived and designed by a man is the first of Pragerââ¬â¢s objections. She contends that Barbieââ¬â¢s fulsome breasts and thin waistline accentuate her sex-appeal, thereby reducing femininity to the contours of body shape and skin color. Prager asserts that this physical perfection on part of the most popular doll undermines the feminist movement and other feminine ideals. Prager acknowledges that Barbie does serve as a role model in terms of her liberated sense of style and living. The showcasing of Barbieââ¬â¢s bohemian lifestyle, spanning condos, fashion plazas, swimming pools and beauty salons is appealing for young girls. Yet, her combination of verve and freedom does not compensate for real substance. Prager constructs her arguments well through the use of deductive logic. She exposes the problems associated with Barbieââ¬â¢s idolatry. At the center of Pragerââ¬â¢s criticism is the homocentric physical construction of Barbie and the highly materialistic basis of her lifestyle. As much a criticism of Barbie, the essay is a criticism of society at large for allowing a flawed concept to take such strong cultural roots.
